Dear Roger,
The GRW spirit is still lurking in the core of Savage Worlds but it has
grown into something independent and new. That being said, the conversion
between GRW and Savage Worlds is fairly easy. It can easily handle
large-scale battles in a role playing environment, although there are some
key differences between Savage Worlds and Deadlands. If you'd like to get
a sense of the differences, I'd recommend downloading the Savage Worlds
test drive rules and the Deadlands conversion material from PEG's site and
look over them. They should give you a sense of how things would
work. While you're at it, take a look at the free adventures and give one
a quick run-though. I think you'll be impressed.
But then, I am a little biased.
Take care.
