My posse is the same sort -- the players pretty much have all heard of
Stone, but the characters have not. You could do what I did -- use Stone's
first name. When they found out that the guy was named "Jasper" they
decided he was mostly harmless. I don't know why someone named Jasper would
be less threatening, nor why the concept of The Stone being named Jasper
Stone was not considered, but they fell for it.
