Re: [DL] mad science
Blueprint for that device. If Sam the Scientist was inventing a steam
wagon, his first blueprint would be made without any bonuses. So he
makes his roll and builds himself a steam wagon. But then, a little
way down the trail, he decides that he doesn't like the way this wagon
rides, so he goes back to his old blueprint and sees that he probably
shouldn't have cut all those corners when he made the suspension
assembly (or whatever) so he thinks about it some more (and rolls his
Mad Science skill, now with a plus one for the first successful
blueprint) and sees how he could do it better next time.
But then Sam wakes up hungry one morning and says to himself, "It would
sure be great if I had an automated pig butcherin'/ham fryin' machine."
So he sits down to make one up from scratch. Now, he's getting pretty
good with making Steam Wagons, but they're pretty different from this
new-fangled device, so he doesn't get any bonuses on the roll for
making this completely new blueprint.
Clear as mud?
