[DL] Re: GURPS and Speedloading

I would second the recomendation of GURPS High Tech.
It is probably the best single volume book on the
history of firearms I have. Well written, informative
and entertaining. Even the other sections are useful -
the section on dynamite springs to mind for Deadlands.

The GURPS system may not be wonderful (though I have
high hopes for 4th edition) but the sourcebooks are
the best produced for any RPG and if they cover your
area of interest buy them, there will be some game
material but not too much and the rest of the material
will be a good history and a good background written
by gamers for gamers.

I had no idea speed loaders were so early, as far as I
knew they first appeared for the Webley-Fosbery
Automatic Revolver before the Great War.

Gate loading revolvers like the SAA would be
impossible to reload really quickly, as far as I can
see you carry two to give you more shots before
reloading, not to use two at once but that is
expericence from CoC which is less 'cinematic' than
Deadlands.
