Actually, there is a lead in already in established DL books.  Believe it's 
the book with the Blood Mage (Black Rail?  Don't have my books with me right 
now).

Because I believe it's in the Marshall's section, it mentions that one of 
the Whateley's was given a cursed knife.  Seems this Whately is a dr and was 
given one as was the other "star" pupil.  The other pupil became "The 
Butcher" that cost Ranger Ketchum his eye.  Now that knife is missing in 
England.  Or something close to that.  As I said, I don't have my books with 
me.
