The Weird World Project:

A unofficial project to describe what’s going on in 
the rest of the world of Deadlands.

Step 1. What to describe.

The following is a list of areas that should be 
covered for a world book, and some ideas of what 
could be described for that area.
If you see some area missing from the list, feel free 
to suggest it be added.

The old world:

Europe:
The far north: (Norway, Viking)
The southeast: (Return of Greek myths, Transylvania)
The rest of it. (The Black forest, Grimm’s fairy 
tales, Prussians)

British isles:
England. (The empire, HG wells, Sherlock Holmes, Fu 
Manchu.)
The rest of it (Return of the fair folk, revolution)
 
Russia: (Baba yaga, Cossacks, Mongols, the Tsar)

The orient:
China (boxing day, return of magic, celestial 
bureaucracy)
India (Rebellion, return of magic, 100,000 gods)

The Middle East:
Ottoman empire: (1,001 Arabian nights)
The holy land.

Africa:
Egypt: (mummies, pharos, the Nile, book of the dead.)
The Dark Continent: (Tarzan, Allen Quatermain, lost 
civilization, the lost world, dinosaurs)

Australia: (the outback, the dreamtime, kangaroos of 
death)

South America: (What the heck went on here in the 
late 1800’s?)

South pacific: (Easter island, pirates, sacrifices of 
virgins to volcanoes, Nemo, Atlantis)

Special cultures:
Jews: (Cabbalists, golems, exploding dredels, 
throwing stars of David)
Gypsy: (Tarot hucksters, crystal balls, curses)
Secret societies: (World crime league, The Illuminati)

Step two: Some fool volunteers

Announce that you’re doing a write up for a area and 
start your research.
Everyone with some ideas about that area makes 
suggestions.
You write up about two pages about that area 
including most of the following info.

What’s happening in this area at this time?
What has the effects of the Recongning on this area?
What are the local’s representatives of some or all 
of the following?
Rangers / Agency
Hucksters
Black Magicians
Terrors
Shaman
Voodooists
Martial artists
Living legends
Mad scientists
Blessed.
Etc.
Any local special versions of the various Arcane 
Background, edges and flaws.

You post your final version on the list.
Everyone mocks or praises your efforts.
Some people put it up on a web page.

Step 3:
All the pages are collected on one website that 
serves as a depository for further submission set in 
the Weird World Works.
