From my limited understanding of Science. I am of the
notion that it would be kinda like what happens when
you pop a balloon. I brief violent expulsion of the
atmosphere due to the surrounding area (being a vacuum
in space) having a much lower pressure than the
interior of the vessel or station. 

Though it would be crushed like a soda can if it did
enter any intense gravitational field such as..say a
singularity or something of that sort.
