ok. my new posse is going to have a texas ranger.
i've read the book and;
1st, i'm not bothered at all by the d20 material,
even though i'm running a 'original' edition.
2nd it's a good read. true it has a different
'flavor' than MiBD, but then again, so do the rangers...:-))
now on to my questions.
on pages 70 and 71 it talks of rangers and
promotions. merits and demerits as well as buying ranks with bounty
points.
on page 70, on the ranger promotions
chart. there is the header with the different ranks of rangers accross the top,
and the different apptitudes down the side.. along with the merit points.
my 1st question[s]. must all his skills be at or
above the levels listed on the left column; rank 1; to be rank 1? must he be at
all of the skills listed at rank2 to be rank 2? i understand about gaining and
losing merits/demeits, but does the character have to be, exactly like the
'templete' of the ranger promotion chart?
next set of questions.. does he have to buy the
edge, rank (ranger) up also to increase in rank? or can he do this
instead of bringing all his skills up to whats listed on the chart?
if a ranger must have certain skills at specific
levels, as well as the specific edges[s], before he can move to ranger rank 2 or
such; characters will be 'cookie cuttered' except with some
differences.
