And then? Will this help the situation? Will the others suddenly start to
reflect their doings?
Sounds more like something that a child might do, that breaks the toy of
another kind just for the sake of haveing something broke.
I always defended roleplaying to outsiders as a way to learn to cope with
conflict (since the reason, "hey, it's fun!" doesn't seem to be enough for
some people).
When he'd followed your advice, he might as well smack the others in the
face - chances that the situation will be resolved are just the same.
