That's only for skill rolls.

No can do.  Chips can't be spent on damage.

Hey Allen, how's trix?

Not to quibble but according to the rules you CAN spend chips on melee
damage but not any other kind. Of course I ignore this and allow the players
to spend chips to boost any one damage die roll which means if they do it so
do I.
