My fave idea was based on Donna Barr's excellent old
Stinz comic books - Centaurs are naturals for a
fantasy western. Probably be a one-shot, but you could
tie in your posse, say, through the Happy Hunting
Grounds?

The posse gets into a battle with some huge
abomination in the HHG, runs for it blindly, and gets
dumped in Tombstone, AZ. All seems well until a man
gets thrown in through the window and a half-horse,
half-man wearing a tin star and leathers - and nobody
else in the saloon sees anything odd about it.

If you can find her books, do so. The Stinz books
dealt with centaurs both in a 17th century setting and
WWII, mostly from a German persepctive. Very
interesting stuff.
