 Chuck,

if ya can....take a page from old Con adventures from other games. I
usually run old 1st edition AD&D modules at the Cons here in Tampa.....most
of those old adventures were originally run at Cons in the late 70's/ early
80's. 

As for ideas....well....how about somthing like the Slave Lords series
(A1-4)...the PCs are hired as retainers by a number of poweful noblemen to
put an end to the slaver menace that has terrorized their territory for
years. The PCs make their way towards the largest freeport in the region,
posing as slaver-merchants wanting to buy a shipment. After poking around a
few days, making discreet inquiries, they discover the local processing
center and decide to sneak in. From there they discover the clues that lead
them to the next destination...etc...etc..etc...

I try to minimize handouts....but then again...Ive only run Rifts or old
AD&D modules....handouts aren't really necessary for those.
