Re: [DL] Dealing With Wind
Hi again Jesse,
I vaguely remember Chill, with a certain fondness. Definitely the king of
campy/creepy RPGs before Deadlands came along and won the belt.
In my game, I've found that things go more smoothly by largely ignoring Wind
loss in combat. I use it to reflect exhaustion, or when effects that deal
Wind-only damage come about, but I find that dealing with the damage roll,
the stun/recovery check, and the Wind loss is one step too many. Some
people have mentioned dropping the stun checks instead; I prefer to drop the
Wind since Stun checks are faster (in my view) and can be chipped as needed,
which can work either way of course.
I have evil d6s as well, so I would often wince as a baddie taking 1d6 Wind
loss (with, say, 18-24 Wind) would end up dropping on the spot. Happened so
often I nearly chucked the dice, before remembering that d6s are also used
to inflict pistol wounds on posse members... <g>
That's my two bits' worth, anyhow.
