Re: [DL] Question

| Hi.
|
| I just recently bought Deadlands, and I have been selected GM. I have
played
| some other rpgs while the rest of the group has not. And thus I have a
| question (probably more later)
|
| How much damage can a player take. I know wind, but how much wound does a

| player have. When weapons does 3d6 and 4d6 damage, wouldnęt they die
after
| one good shot. My best player has 20 wind?

Okay, this is gonna take a bit of explaining, so listen up.

1) Wind is a measure of your characters grit/will/whatever. When a
character runs out of wind, he doesn't die, he's only "winded", or out of
the fight. Wind is recovered at a rate of 1 point per minute of rest.

2) Damage points create wounds. This is what you're rolling those dice
for. For each full multiple of your character's size (usually 6) in damage
points, your character takes a wound to whatever location he was hit in.
Five wounds to the head or guts (guts includes upper, lower, and gizzards
as one location) will kill your character. Five wounds to a leg or arm
will only maim that limb.

3) However, for each wound your character takes, he suffers 1d6 points of
wind. In addition, for each location with a serious wound, he loses one
wind at the beginning of every round. If it's a critical wound, it's two
wind. Maimed? Three wind.

4) For each negative multiple of your starting wind total (IOW, if your
starting wind is 20, we're talking -20,-40,-60,-80, etc), your character
takes an additional wound to the guts from blood loss, shock, and trauma.

It's pretty difficult to kill someone in one shot with a 3d6 or 4d6 damage
weapon, as you can see.
