What does the real-life oath read like?  Maybe they don't need a second
oath, they just learn exactly what the first one covers...

"... and I will protect citizens from harm.  What's that cover?"
"Umm, bandits and desperados."

"Bandits and desperados and zombies and rattlers and cultists and werewolves
