It's a fine line to walk, to be sure.

I've one player whose single dot of occult occasinally seems to warrant
knowing the Wholse Shebang, but otherwise my players are pretty good about
things.

If you're looking for a general introductory text, I don't think there's one
that covers everything, though of course the Players' Sections of the
various sourcebooks could be combined for this.
