     Yes all charecters with faith gain protection.  To be a bit of a rules 
lawyer and to be more specific. Players guide pg 176, first paragraph of 
Protection, "Any character with at least one level in the faith aptitude may 
attempt this miracle by presenting her holy symbol or otherwise declaring the 
power of her deity."
     They probably should have also mentioned this under the description of 
the faith aptitude, but they didn't.
     If you have the fire and brimstone sourcebook it replaces the free 
protection miracle by other miracles for other religions.
     Oh and it does not count as one of your miracles if you are blessed.  
Players guide pg 175 under the heading starting miracles:  "A starting 
blessed character knows protection plus one additional miracle for every 
level in the higher of her professional: theology and faith aptitudes."  Note 
that it does specificly say "the higher" to support Goff on his answer to the 
origianl post.
