Gotcha covered, sort of. :-)
Three weeks ago, we had a guy in our group play a mad scientist. He'd never
taken one before, so we quickly browbeat him into a flamethrower as his
starting gizmo.
He got a Reliability of 10.
The character was also Cautious, so he was absolutely loathe to use it.
Anyway, the second night, we faced a run-in with 12 armed and insane
soldier. He sneaked and creeped around to get the best possible angle
(taking far longer than he should have and earning a chip for roleplaying),
kept a card up his sleeve so when the moment was right, he could jump up and
spray the group.
Well, the moment soon was right and he stood up, fired up the flamethrower
for the first time, failed his Reliablility, and rolled Catastrophe. The
total damage he did (to himself) was 326 points of damage.
Now, techincally, you could probably discount that since it: a) wasn't
intentional; and b) was self-inflicted. However, he also killed all 8 of the
remaining soldiers in the blast--we stopped totalling when it broke 500
points of cumulative damage.
I don't know that I'd count that one though, since it was under the HOE
explosion rules, which make explosives of any sort the damage-monger weapon.
Prior to that, our best was a Straight Flush on a 4-dart Shard that did
something like 194 points to a single zombie.
Unfortunately, someone else was running the game, so I don't get credit for
the kill. :-/
