Re: [BNW] Power Package Idea
Here's the next (maybe final?) draft of the power...
CACTUS
Powers:
Armor- The skin of a cactus is naturally tough. Armor 10/-.
Spikes- With an easy (5) spirit roll, this delta can cause dozens of
bone-like spikes to erupt from his skin. Another easy (5) spirit roll allows
the cactus to reabsorb his spikes. They are 6 to 12 inches in length, and
about an inch wide at the base. They are sharp enough to pierce rock or
metal up to 2 inches thick. They will not come out of locations dangerous to
the cactus (ie from the inside of one leg to pierce the other), but they
will rip through his clothing. While the spikes are out, the cactus has
Obvious -5. Anything within a foot of the cactus when the spikes come out
receives 5d6+5 points of damage, anyone holding the cactus receives this
damage to all hit locations. Anyone attempting a hand-to-hand attack against
a spiked cactus receives their strength+5 points of damage to the limb they
attacked with. The spikes add +5 to all hand-to-hand damage.
Tricks:
Shed- With an extra success on the spirit roll to create the spikes, the
cactus can shed his spikes from any or all body locations. This creates 12
spikes for arms, legs, and head and 24 for the torso. Each spike can be used
like a hunting knife or a large thrown knife (see page 188 of the rulebook
for stats). They can also be dropped like caltrops, doing 3d6+3 points of
damage to anyone who steps on them. The hero can not grow spikes from the
location(s) where shedding occurred for two hours afterward, in order to
regrow.
Spike Spray- With an extra success on an easy spirit roll, the cactus can
cause all his spikes to explode outward. This is treated like a shrapnel
grenade with a BR of 3 and damage of 5d6+5. Everyone in the first increment
takes full damage and everyone in the second increment takes half damage.
Once again, it takes two hours to grow new spikes.
I'd be proud to have my power package featured on Delta World. Be sure to
give credit to those who offered ideas and advice, also. If this version
needs more tweaking, just tell me and I'll try again. Thanks.
