I actually found it to be much less scary than most places.  I don't 
know if they've cleaned it up sicne you've been or if living in the 
Wash. DC area has made me jaded or what, but I found even the 
homeless to be refreshingly polite.  I was harrassed more by Con 
security than by the locals (who seemed more confused than anything 
else).  One of my favorite moments was when a shoeshine guy at the 
mall called out to me "What are you?"  (I was wearing a medival gown) 
and I just smiled and relied "Me!" and went my merry way.

Yes, very fun.  I've been 2 years now, and have had a wonderful time 
each year--excepting the nightmare that is registration.  There isn't 
a hell of a lot of gaming, but there were still times where I had to 
pick and choose.  I plan to do several GMing slots this next year 
(And yes, at least one will be a Brave Victorian World, and probalby 
a normal BNW, plus some Fudge Deryni games).
