[BNW] Question on Delta Points

Warning: alternate rules may be discussed. Those who feel that the rules
must never be tampered with shouldn't read. ;)

When I asked before about using delta points to buy Tricks, someone
mentioned that you can use any Trick for 3 successes. I have not found
that rule anywhere, although I'm notorious for missing that one sentence
that reveals all. Can someone give me a pointer to it? I'm most likely
disallowing it anyways, in favor of the mechanic I'm working on, but that's
besides the point.

I'm still looking for a better mechanic than experience points for shorter
campaigns--most likely through the use of DPs. Right now, this is what I have:

When awarded Delta Points, they must be used by the end of the
session. One can never start a session with more DPs than their char
started the campaign with. A DP can be used for the sort of things
normally listed, and also on gaining new Tricks. A player must declare an
attempt to use the Trick as part of the action declaration. THey spend a
DP but do not gain the bonus die. If they succeed as if they had the Trick
(get enough extra successes) the Trick takes place. Otherwise, it doesn't,
but the action's success or failure is judged as normal. Once they have
done the Trick 3 times in this manner, it becomes a permanent part of the char.

This is to encourage Trick aquisition. This is, of course, for the shorter
campaign arcs that I will probably be running (6-8 sessions, then a lengthy
break). I am not sure I'd reccommend it for those who are lucky enough to
run extended campaigns.

Thoughts? I'm trying to figure out how I'd turn these awarded DPs into
skill points for those who'd like to improve their chars that way.
