Yeah, I was disappointed with the gadgeteer stuff too. The one highlight
was the introduction of some new armageddon suits that could easily be
converted in power suits. I wanted a lighter suit that gave bonuses to
speed and not so much strength, but didn't know if they would be kosher.
It's one thing to have pistons and servos to up strength, but without some
type of neural connection how would a suit up your speed? But it is legal
and I guess you don't really need a logical explanation, that's why their
gadgets.
One thing that really disappointed me is that there was no indication of
how many gadgeteers there are working for DP at one time (i.e. how many
suits do they have access to?) I guess it really doesn't matter, no delta
team should ever face more than a squad of armagedons (5), and if they
beat them all the gadgeteers are still back at DP HQ to pull that other
suit they were fiddling with out of moth-balls...

Ours didn't really have us "joining up" with the defiance, at least not in
the short time we ran. We however did start running into DP pretty early
on. The Guide had actually wished they'd brought DP out first. You bring
out the mainbook, and the sourcebook, these cover general rules and the
good-guys (PCs) in general, next you come out with a sourcebook for the
opposition to give the Guide something extra to work with. That seems like
a reasonable way to do it to me anyway.
