[BNW] Massive damage and Stun
I seem to recall that some people were saying that Massive damage isn't
that great against bad guys/ scrubs (especially if you use a hit point
system for scrubs, 15 points of massive damage is the same as 15 pts. of
damage to one area when you aren't counting different area wounds).
Besides that, it seems like other than more healing rolls (and maybe some
extended healing time) massive damage really isn't that much worse than
regular damage (opinions?)
So I was thinking about this:
When rolling the initial stun check for a massive damage hit, you need an
extra success to avoid being stunned. After this first roll the rolls are
made normally.
Ex: A primer is caught in a grenade's blast and takes two wounds of
massive damage. He is uninjured so his stun check is TN 12 (base 5, +2 for
wounds, +5 for massive stun). He fails and dives aside, stunned. On the
primer's next action his TN is 7 (base 5, +2 for wounds) and he passes and
gets up.
This seems reasonable as most people would be initially stunned for a
second by an explosion or being hit by fire (picture you being knocked
back by an explosion, or doing the old "Ah!, shield my face from the fire"
when you get hit by a heat wave. But then, if you aren't seriously hurt
(like many deltas wouldn't be) you recover in short order.
