Well with no explaination...
A tough could be earth just as easily (earth is pretty hard to hurt, but
it can't do much besides sit there).

A hotshot for fire is good, but as I pictured it being more representative
than literal I thought a blaster would work too.

My first choice for air was flyer, but I also realized that the phaser
would be appropriate because the delta could "go gaseous" and pass through
things.

Water is the hardest, I don't see the phaser (taken literally water would
change shape and pass under the door, not go through it). I thought the
changeling was a good choice because it represented the "amorphousness" of
water.
