The problem there is potentially that you're edging the power up to
Alpha-level by allowing Sneak to vanish in plain sight.

If it works for you, fine, naturally. :) But to some degree, one gets the
impression Matt was trying to edge away from a more "cinematic/comic book"
style. I don't think a Guide should be considered "inflexible" just because
they stick with the style of the genre for the game they're playing.

As long as he knows that he doesn't have an automatic "protection from
death" by doing so.

I don't think the problems I've seen with Sneak are merely combat-related.
The problem is that the Sneak is more of a "go-off-on-their-own" type of
character. This isn't unusual, and is often a problem, within the genre:
most Justice League writers can't pull this off with Batman in JLA comics
very well, either.

Look at the examples Theo gave in his previous post. They involved the
Sneak doing stuff on his own (taking out a guard on a spotlight, or Harrison
Ford by himself charging through a house). That doesn't mean a Sneak can't
be a participant, but it means that his participation is...off to the side,
as it were.

A Sneak can be fun, sure, but sometimes the "fun" of playing it is at odds
with the odds for a person to show up and play with a group of players and
their characters.
