[BNW] First session

Well, I ran my first session of BNW today. The players had a pretty good time and got into their characters quickly. I have four players in the group but only three of them were playing today. We had a Speedster, a Defender and a Scrapper. Pretty well-rounded group considering that there were only three of them. I am running the adventure that comes with the power shield as their introduction to the BNW setting.

The adventure started typically enough, with the characters receiving the e-mail from Truth about going to the warehouse for more information. The heroes all headed for the warehouse, the Speedster in his civvies, the other two in costume. The Speedster, called Blue Streak, arrived first, and started trying to find a way over, around or through the fence, finally deciding to climb it which he did without a problem. The other two PC's then showed up and gained access the same way. After figuring out that they all received the same e-mail, they approached the front doors to the building. Finding them locked, the Scrapper (code name Stalker) produced a set of lockpicks and got them unlocked. For the record, the Defender's name is Guardian.

Once inside the warehouse, the quickly found the computer with the next message from Truth on it. After reading it, they went to the referenced webpage (deltatimes) and read the information on the Ripper murders. To my utter amazement (I don't know why this amazed me, players have a way of doing the unexpected), they ignored all the names and clues they found online and went straight to the Blood Angels hangout, the Omega Bar.

After some inquiries there, and lucking into talking to Marco, the boyfriend of one of the Ripper victims, they were directed to Fat Tony. He gave them the information that he was supposed to give them, about the supposed address of the Ripper and they were on their way. Unfortunately, they bumped into a few gang members outside the bar harassing a young lady reporter. After dispatching the gangers, and earning an enemy in Fat Tony and the Blood Angels, they went to a coffee shop to talk to the reporter, Tara. She gave them a few tidbits of info and her cell phone number. This pleased Blue Streak immensely (lusty quirk). Then, off they went to the last known address of the Ripper.

Arriving there, a rundown apartment building, they found another young girl, an obvious Goth, surrounded in an alley by dozens of citizens calling for her head. Once again, the PC's did something I wasn't expecting. They actually incited these citizens into a fight. Fortunately for them, most of the citizens scattered but the seven remaining were armed with all sorts of weapons, including guns. During the fight, which the PC's managed to handle fairly well, one of the citizens was killed by Stalker's sword. One got away and the others were knocked unconcious. Needless to say, the papers will have a story about vicious deltas attacking and killing "innocent" citizens. Stalker did take a nasty gunshot wound to the head in the battle.

After the fight, they agreed to help Samantha (the Goth) get the information she was after in the apartment building, where they found out that she was more than normal and most likely a Delta. She passed on the information she learned about the teenager suspected of being the Ripper, that he appeared in her vision to be in a prison cell of some sort, and looked to have been there for quite some time. Obviously, he couldn't have performed the murders, which had taken place recently, at least he couldn't have in her opinion. She then left the PC's to their next move.

That is where we left off.

All in all, we had a very good time and a lot of fun. Looking forward to next week.
