[WW] Espionage... Books... Dogfights...
Hey all,
Do to the overwhelming responses to my plot hooks/ideas ;-) I offer yet another one...
This one is just a general concept (subplot to adventures)...
How about once the characters join up with the OSI they find themselves under the command of a (Insert name and rank). Their commander is really charismatic guy who is really aggressive in getting in the thick of things (Sending the characters on lots of top level missions). At first the characters find him to be entirely supportive with equipment, information and assistance, but slowly they begin to notice, when they 'run into' fellow agents, that knowledge of their missions are either not entirely correct or are completely wrong/unknown. Investigation reveals that resistance fighters who have helped them have been murdered and information they retrieved has disappeared. Unfortunately their commander covers his tracks well and regardless of who they tell, no one believes them. Finally, it all leads to one final mission where the commander sends them on a rather 'mundane' mission which turns out to be a trap where they must escape back to their lines. Upon returning they find their commander has been imprisoned (The higher ups knew of the trap but sacrificed the characters in order to catch their commander and prove his guilt).
A further twist could be that their commander gets released to become a XX agent and becomes a reoccurring irritant to the characters. Or maybe even something even more nasty like having to protect him from an assassination attempt =).
I'm presently reading a book called Unexplained Mysteries of WW2 to get some ideas for adventures. Most of the little stories are familiar but a few are just begging to become adventures or to be added into an adventure as background (One of my favorites being a massively shot up P-40 that was spotted by two Americans pilots who flew up beside it, only to discover that the pilot, a "Corn" Sherill, was dead at the controls and holding a steady course towards American lines).
I also bought a new book called 'Forgotten Legions' about obscure units of the SS (I haven't cracked this one yet but you can be assured it will have some great adventure ideas =).
Lastly, I made my bimonthly trip to my local game store and, much to my surprise, found it to be completely stocked with WW material (Hmmm... Made the request for more WW products last visit... Full stock this time around... Coincidence? =)... I finally got Dead from Above... Looks good... I'll peruse it at work tonight. I would love to playtest an air battle this week. I heard people mentioning Starwars rules in regard to air battles. Do I need a Starwars book to run a WW air battle?
Until later....................... K
