Change the nationality of the character. Along with
the opinion of others, I seriously doubt whether an
American or British Empire lad would be sent across as
part of the invasion force. That sort of thing is just
not done.

However, if the child was French the Resistance as
part of their on-going efforts could perhaps have used
him. Depending on the talents involved he could have
been a very useful agent. Being French does make it
easier for the PCs to come into contact with him. At
the arranged meeting place the PCs are confronted with
the idea that their contact and guide from the
Resistance isn’t old enough to shave as of yet.

The child could be Russian. As with the French angle
the Russians would not have looked a gift horse in the
mouth. IMHO a child with suitable abilities would have
been thrown into the area just as willfully as any
other member of the motherland. When the enemy is
driving on towards Moscow any means to an end and all
that. There are difficulties in how the child will
come into contact with the PCs, as well as language
issues to be resolved.
