You are missing the point.
It's not what you, yourself, post, or what the game is about, or free speech
issues in the United States.
It's about the fact that the governments of France and some other European
countries have said that their ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are legally
responsible for all the content they host. This includes webpages and e-mail
that passes through their systems. In order to not break the law, the ISPs
filter out the illegal material, which means that List members in those
countries will not receive any material i.e. email, that contains "banned"
language.
The use of codes like Hi---- and Na--- are attempts to evade the filtering
software.
It's a technical matter, similar to Napster users who listed their songs in
Pig Latin to evade Napster's title filtering software.
The Internet is international, and extends to areas that have radically
different laws than we do in the US. Use of some types of language is
illegal there, and the filters don't really care about the circumstances or
context that the words are used in.
If use of these terms is preventing some List members from participating in
discussion, then we should be good neighbors and follow the conventions that
allow them be here.
