RE: [pyrnet] Re: pyrproofing

"Oh, and she eats out of cereal boxes too, if they are not closed properly."

Please, Please, PLEASE - I beg you, do not leave cereal boxes anywhere the dog can get them.  I lost my beautiful Chocolate Lab, CJ, 5 years ago from suffocation.  He got into a box of cereal that was left out on the counter while we were at work, and that plastic bag the cereal is in was the perfect size to fit tightly over his muzzle.  I can not describe the feeling to find your beloved pet dead with a bag over its muzzle.  If you have to, buy rubbermaid containers to pour the cereal into.

Sincerely,

Melissa, Liberty (pyr) and Timber (lab)

My Inka LOVES cobbler and we found out in a similar way.  And brownies, oatmeal cookies and cereal.   I have never had a dog with a sweet tooth before.  Oh, and she eats out of cereal boxes too, if they are not closed properly.

Last week she learned to open drawers and ate 4 of the six bagels in the bag.  I make her good food so it is not as if she is starved.  I think it is the thrill of the hunt.....

i have 5 dogs- 2 greyhounds and 2 borzoi as well as my pyr.  I also have ScatMats which have electric charges and are designed to keep the dogs out of the dining room.  All 4 hounds will never step on the mats, having done it ONCE and learned the lesson.  My pyr usually won't go in the room, HOWEVER, if there is something he feels he truly needs in there, well... One example was the berry cobbler I made and set in the dining room to cool.  My pyr has a sweet tooth and I thought it would be safe from him in there with the ScatMat.  Nope, he braved the shock and stepped on it anyway while I was out of the house, pulled the cobbler off the dining room table and ate the whole thing.  To his credit there was not a stain on him or on the carpet and the only way I knew for sure it was him was the tuft of white fur he left behind on the carpet.  He never stops amazing me!
