I have
never shaved our Pyrs, Czar and Tundra; however, with our Newf, Osa, I do have
his belly shaved in the summer, and his wings, pants, legs and inner thighs cut
very short. I find the Newfs hair more difficult to manage in the summer
than the Pyrs. All 3 of them just run outside to do their thing and
then run back in the house so each hog their own air conditioning vent in
the house on the tiled floors......they would stay there until the first
snow flies here in Wisconsin if I let them.....

Hi Jessica
I did shave my first Pyr. Never
again,.........big mistake. When her coat grew back in it was horrible. Very
soft and more like a Sammy, coat sticking up in every direction. After that
summer I had to do her every spring just to make her comfortable. The four
Pyrs I have now I would never shave. Scissor maybe but not shave.

Subject: [pyrnet] Re: does anyone shave
their pyrs?
I live in Louisiana and even though my pry stays inside
most of the time, it's still miserable for him I'm
sure.
I was wanting to shave him just for the summer but
I've read that it can mess up their fur. It could ruin their
insulation or something like that. I've only had him clipped a little,
nothing major and was just checking to see what you all do with your
pyrs for the summer.
