Jeanne;

I feed my oldest Pyr, Czar, Nutro Natural Choice for Large Breeds with Glucosamine for his dry food. (2 cups 2x a day)  I recently found the perfect solution for him....adding about 1/2 can of Nutro Natural Choice Chicken,Rice & Oatmeal Formula for Sensitive Stomachs.  He has done amazing since I added the canned food.  It touts healthy skin, shiny coat and vitality, and I now swear by it for him. No diarrhea, no lethargy, no vomiting, no gurgly sounds in his tummy, nothing; he loves it and he is very, very healthy for a 7 year old!  My other Pyr and my Newf both eat the Nutro dry food, but they also have a natural diet of steamed vegetables, fruit, yogurt, lamb and pumpkin. Czar just can't have any of that due to his sensitive stomach.  I just think it is so odd that Czar from the time he was born has such an incredibly fussy digestive system.  My youngest Pyr, Tundra, who is almost a year, has the stomach of a goat; she can and will eat anything except bananas with no issues.

I am very, very pleased with the Nutro for sensitive stomach brand; and I wish I would have tried it long ago!

I was wondering what food each of you have found best for your Pyrs?  I am feeding my 95% pyr/5% Aussie Shep. !(mentality and personality are Pyr),  Nature’s Variety Prairie, Lamb and Rice.  Several times I have tried weaning him off this to try something he likes better that still is high quality but no matter how slowly I try changing him he ends up with diarrhea.     Right now I am slowly adding Royal Canin, Large Breed #26 which he really likes – we’ll see.  The reason I want to change is that when he gets only Prairie he has no keen interest in eating.  When these other foods are added he eats with vigor!

He likes Wilderness, too, but his stomach doesn’t agree with his taste buds.

Any suggestions?  Also, I want to make sure his food is an all around good one for his body-type, fur, etc.  While I am at it – what shampoo/conditioner  do you use?  I use one from the veterinarian because he came to us 4 years ago with some skin issues.  But, once in a while I do use something else on him.  Thank you.
