Re: [pyrnet] Rescue Contacts & help
<<Contacting the Rescue Reps for your area, as
Linda stated, causes much less confusion. Many times the Rescue
Coordinators have already been contacted and many times shelters will
only work with Reputable Rescue Groups or by direct adoption.>>
That is very true. Note in the information tyat Matt posted from tye GA group:
"CCAC is a rescue friendly facility. As long as the rescue organization has
a GA state issued shelter license, they will just transfer the pet to the
rescue group. CCAC will need a copy of the shelter license and a statement
saying who will be pulling this pet "
Not all reputable and ethical rescue groups are licensed in a state. Especially
if tye rescue group is based out of state (Terry is in FL but handles GA rescue)
<< Just think what you all could do by
contacting your closest GPCA Rescue Representative and offering your
services! >>
Thank you Judith. This is REALLY important.
<< Transportation is always difficult to arrange. Foster Homes
are almost impossible to find. >>
In virtually every part of the country. We have 10 dogs in the NW in some kind
of temporary foster but those homes are not always available. Some of those
dogs are in West. MT and it is literally (many) HOURS to get them here to West
WA. Transportation is always tough, even if you ask people only to drive 100
miles (each way) in a leg. Especially if it needs to be done quickly.
<< If you can't foster, there are so many
other ways of helping our Pyrs in need. <snip> You will be amazed
to learn that your closest rescue group does not have the man power to
take in all the Pyrs needing homes. Helping out locally is the best thing
ya'll can do.>>
AMEN. Always too much to do and too few to do it.
