I think Cat food contains some ingredient in it that is in excess of what dogs should have in their diets.  I want to say that its Taurine, but I know that I've seen that ingredient in some dog foods.  Who knows?  It's a mystery.

Early spay/neuter has been proved to be safe and easier on the dog.
Usually the deciding facter is whether or not the Vet is comfortable with
doing it. My vote is to tell the Vet not to remove the dew claws. We've
had Pyrs for 36 years and never had one injure a dew claw.
