Re: [pyrnet] [dthoele1@hotmail.com: Entry to Guestbook]
How old is your new Pyr? I have always kept my Pyr puppies indoors and even
beyond puppy-hood if that was their preference. Only thing I can say is ..
Pyr puppies chew "BIG". <laughing> Shoes are for amateurs! The pyr I have
now pretty much gutted our house (and my van) when he was a babe.
My male Pyr is more indoor than outdoor. (His preference) I have noticed
that all mine tend to be more night time barkers than anything. Sleep all
day, Guard allllll night. This was quickly cured with a week or so of a
bark collar and Long exhausting walks during the days.
The shedding will happen.. indoors or outdoors. It is pretty constant with
a major coat blowing twice a year. (mine is in his summer hair loss right
now) I can fill a bag with hair daily just by brushing and picking up the
clumps he leaves all over the floors. Having a Pyr in the house most of the
time is very hard on vacuums. I had gone through several before I gave up..
and opted for the shop vac. Last year I shaved (a long clip about 3in.) my
Pyr for the first time. This was wonderful!!!! It didn't change his coat
at all.. it grew in just as before if not more so. He was much more
comfortable and really looked good. Shaving him really cut down on the
maintenance I had to do on him. He is an avid hiking/backpacking dog.. and
I would dread taking him out in the woods with a full coat.. knowing the
chore I had waiting for me when we got home.
Best thing you can do is get your Pyr use to the brush now. And use it
daily.
