Re: [pyrnet] Pyrs and stairs
Hot dogs on each step is the way to go! That's exactly
what we did, when we had our stairs redone and Dirk
was suddenly terrified of them.
Another factor is: Are they slippery? I know wooden
treads can frighten dogs. We put little carpet tread
protectors on each step, so Dirk wouldn't slip. That
helped.
Also, if they have no backing/are open stairs, try
hanging a sheet on the back, so the dog can't see
through them. This was the only way Dirk would use our
old stairs.
Also, be patient. When we forced Dirk, he wouldn't do
it. Finally, we left him alone with the hot dogs and
sure enough, after about 10 minutes of "one step up,
one step back," he arrived, very proud of himself at
the top of the stairs!
Good luck.
