Hi Chrissy
I have bought 2 bitches from Belgium, who is of
pure french lines, and they were/are certainly not agressive, nor is it the
impression I get when I meet pyrs of French breeding at shows.
My two bitches were different from each other in
that one was dominant and the other is not, but both are/were very friendly
towards people as well as other dogs. I have at the moment 5 bitches living
together as housedogs, all are from 50 % to 100 % french lines, most of them are
intact, and I have no problems either at home or when meeting other
dogs.
One of the differences I have found compared to
what has been the norn in Denmark, is that the pyrs of French lines seems
to be more active, more lively, and compared to many of the old Danish pyrs more
sensitive, more responsive. One of the things that surprised me the first time I
showed in Belgium (the Belgiums work with the same lines that French breeders
do) was that when you stopped and looked at the pyrs, they would start wagging
the tails and "smile" at you, I was not used to seeing that in Denmark, not
because the Danish pyrs at that time were not friendly, but they did not
seem as eager or interested in contact as the belgium pyrs.
I have seen some timid pyrs of French origin, but
only very few agressive ones, certainly not more so than other Scandianvian
pyrs, which has been mostly of English and American lines.
