Bridget, check the article on the GPCA site and give a copy of it to your
vet.
Even with all precautions (weight check, vet who knew and understood the
problems) Tori's heartbeat slowed down dramatically during her spay
surgery and the vet had to give medication to counteract. Check that your
veterinarian will have some kind of heart monitor on--preferably that
there is at least a vet-tech present who's trained in anesthesiology.
