This is not what is being said.  It is not that Pyrs are black dogs that
fade.  The proposition is that Pyrs are basically "colored" dogs (of many
different hues) that have such extensive white markings that the markings
cover up the colored part of the dog.  Kelley has added the postulate that
we also have the chinchilla factor which can add to the fading of color.
This would account for what we all see of dark birth markings beginning to
lighten almost immediately.
