Re: [pyrnet] Chickens (was: Getting a Pyr to Eat)
Hi Chrissy and all,
Slight change of subject here (though I have been enjoying the tape worm
discussion and glad to hear that chickens are the best way to control
insect pests..)
I'm interested to read that your dogs and chickens will be in the same
field as I am still having problems with my dogs and the chickens.
Things had been getting better over the last week (since they killed one)
but this evening Bear accidentally managed to corner one in the shed and
got it in his mouth before I could pounce on him and free it. No harm
done, luckily. I've been following Barb's good advice (thanks Barb) and
the dogs had been doing very well up to this and had been allowed near
the chickens (under supervision) for longer periods each day with good
results. They know they're not meant to catch them, but it
just seems that as soon as the chickens squawk and flap about the dogs
can't resist their impulses.
Any suggestions, or are we doing ok and just need to keep working at
it?
I'd love to know how you do it.
Mary.
