Re: [pyrnet] Getting a Pyr to Eat
My Pyr, Cody, tires and becomes very bored with his food. I have found that
if I keep the dry kibbles the same (Wellness brand) I can peak his interest
in food by varying the taste with different types of wet, canned dog food. I
alternate with Wellness canned, Science Diet canned and an other brand
carried in pet stores that is rabbit and rice. By keeping his Wellness
kibbles as the constant in his diet, I do not upset his intestinal track. I
have had three Pyr's and not one was a "chow-down hound." Once on a while I
will sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top of his food or even mix a can of
tuna fish with his kibbles. He maintains at 105 to 110 pounds. Guess he
would not starve if I didn't vary his diet but he looks so pathetic staring
at his food bowl.
