Michigan State University is accumulating a database of
information for purebreed dogs for the AKC ... website is listed
below if you'd like to take part.  I hope they do more than just
provide statistical information for the AKC tho...perhaps if
they see that "x" amount of dogs are dropping dead of renal
failure,or heart or cancer they'll get a better handle on the top
diseases to really focus on.

"Mission Statement: Currently there are no published reports on
life expectancy / longevity or cause of death for each canine
breed that are based on factual data; only estimates of longevity
for each breed are available. The purpose of this study is to
acquire data to develop life expectancy tables and survival
statistics for all American Kennel Club registered canine breeds
for statistical application."
