[pyrnet] Newman's weight loss
Well, I took Newman to the vet for his ears (the yeast infection) last
week, and while there had asked about his weight loss. Since he was on
Revolution, the vet suggested that after I changed his food, if he didn't
start eating better and continued to lose weight, to have him tested for
worms again, since Revolution doesn't protect againt whipworms. So, since
I've been weighing him every week just to see, when he dropped weight again
this week, I took him to my regular vet and had him tested. No whipworms,
but he has hookworms again. He had those when we got him and I thought we'd
gotten him cleaned out, but the vet said that they're sometimes very
difficult to get rid of and can be a chronic infection. Great...so, now he
has the mange I have to watch for and now the hookworms, too? He gave him a
dose of Panacur and gave me a bottle. I'm supposed to give him a dose each
day for three days, then take him back in three weeks and do it again.
This poor baby has had more health problems in the past 9 months than my
Spitz did in all her fifteen years.
Hopefully, this will get him right again and he'll be back to eating and
gaining like a growing dog should!
