Re: [pyrnet] First Pyr

First of all, congratulations on your new Pyr.

I'm not sure about the tooth, I can't see how a young pup could be confused
with a three year old but you never know. :)

About the dewclaws. No! They should NOT be removed! It is a breed
characteristic and does not hinder them, as in some other breeds.

We even state in our purchase agreement that the dog will not have it's tail
docked, ears cropped, front single dewclaws or back double dewclaws removed.
We also state that the dog will not be debarked.

These things all have a purpose. Believe me, the dewclaws should stay.

Food: 26% protein and 14% fat or more if necessary. First ingredient
should be chicken, etc. Feed what is suggested on the bag adjusting to her
individual needs.

If she needs to pick up weight there are several ways to do this.

Of course I also have to mention feeding raw. Some here, I'm sure will have
a problem with this, others feed this as well. If interested I suggest you
join the BARF Pyrs e-mail list. The important thing to remember in raw
feeding is to keep it raw and balanced.

Chrissy :)
