Good morning everyone,
I just thought I would sit and
tell you what just happened to me. Any of you that have been through it
will understand my emotions at this time.
My neighbor called this morning
to ask if I could sit with her children for a while. I agreed and left at
9am to do just that. Well, after being over there for two hours, she comes
home from her errands and I leave to come home and get lunch thinking I will go
back and crochet for a while after lunch.
I come home the back door has
been left unlocked...it doesn't close securely unless the latch is turned.
I look around and call for the puppies all over the inside. NOWHERE TO BE
FOUND!!
I rush outside thinking maybe they just were in the back yard
(about an acre)...NOT THERE EITHER! My adrenaline is now in charge and I
call my neighbor to come get me and drive me around the neighborhood.
While she's getting her kids in the car (they aren't even dressed) I call the
town hall and have them alert all the workers out and the town police (about
1,500 total population here in town) and tell her that they have runs in the
backyard if someone finds them and that Rhonda and I are going out to
look.
We drove all over the
neighborhood, then into another little row of houses, down the highway (not the
main one - I was too scared to go there just yet), then down the dirt
road. Things were blurring so bad then the landscape looked like the top
half was going to the right and the bottom half was going to the left!! I
was a wreck!!!!!!!!!!! I tasted blood and looked and had chewed my right
thumb up. That will be alright.
Then Rhonda asks if I see
something moving in the strawberry field and I can't see anything at this
point. Between the "moving" landscapes and the tears in my eyes I may as
well be done! Turns out that it's not the pups so we continue driving down
this dirt road. Rhonda sees Sugar Bear. I jumped out of the truck
before it really stopped and went and kneeled down for her to come to me and
then I see Bear over by a tree!!!!!!! I thought I was going to pass
out.
We got them loaded up in the
truck and now they are home with me. I am going to have to learn to be a
better Mommy and remember to lock the back door (need to get a new
lock!).
They are home safe but only
because they went the way they did. Had they gone the same distance in the
opposite direction ~ well, that's why I didn't want to go to the
highway.
Thanks for
listening,
Bridget
