Re: [pyrnet] Chat: What is considered back yard breeding?

A bit late on this but could not resist a chance to get on the soap box about back yard breeders. Unfortunately, we have a huge problem with them in our area resulting in many, many, rescue Pyrs. Whether they claim to be breeding livestock guarding dogs or pets,
their primary reason for breeding is to make $$$$ money. One woman in our area brags that her male has sired 1000 puppies. She has never made the effort to find out what makes a good Pyr. Several of the offspring I have seen have pretty heads and coats but all
have structural faults such as cow-hocked in the rear and east-west in the front like their Dad. Of the livestock guarding dogs I have seen, all have been much shorter than most Pyrs with yellow eyes and many are shy or aggresive. It does worry me that these
people are producing so many really inferior dogs just for money. Since they never go to shows or see any other Pyrs they think theirs are perfect.
