RE: [pyrnet] A question on showing and socialization

In my opinion and every trainer I have ever known, socialization (with dogs
and human's) is one of the most, if not the most important aspect of early
training. Especially in a breed so large.

I think the breeder might have meant, not to allow the pup to rough house
with other dogs, for fear of hurting itself. Just as you should not let a
large breed puppy to jump off of beds, for the same reason. I hope that is
what they meant anyways.

If she does not socialize her pup early, especially if she plans to show,
how can she desensitize her to noisy dog shows, and other dogs?
She could end up with a very fearful pup, who will not take well to
strangers or the other dogs in the ring. Or worse yet one who does not
tolerate other dogs and act's aggressively towards them.
I would tell her to take her pup and meet as many different dogs as
possible. If she is afraid of injury, just don't allow any wrestling.
