You Know, I really can't tell You how I did it !  (not because I don't won't
to, I just don't know !)  I guess it was a combination of baby gates that
they were taught not to try to get over, the idea that I never "fussed if
they touched anything on the floor, but "screamed to High Heaven if they
touched anything on a table~~a trick that I use that could have helped is to
save a bit off My plate every nite at dinner, call the dogs to Me, put them
on Sit, show them the "treat"~reach over and drink some water, wipe My mouth
off with a napkin~~Start talking to My Hubby, then, remember the
"treat"~~pick it up and hand it to them~~(they are not allowed to take the
"treat off My tray)  I have to hand it to them~~
I guess I'm a "control Freak"   <sigh>  wish I could  help !

Maybe if I ever actually CATCH him with clothes in his mouth and dragging it off the table, I'll scream like a banshee and make weird noises. I cracked up one day because I was feeling silly and just looked at him and made some VERY odd noises (beeping, gurgling and just all around odd) and it SCARED him.  He backed up so quickly he fell on his butt and rolled his eyes. Wouldn't come near me for about 20 minutes! Poor baby. I was just playing with him...didn't mean to scare him.

I walked into the family room this afternoon and noticed all that white fur
on the floor.  I looked at Seamus , fast asleep on the couch, and said in a
conversational tone of voice , " Well, buddy, it looks like I'm going to
have to vacuum." He woke up and immediately went to the door!  Needless to
say, he HATES the vacuum cleaner. And I hadn't even got it out of the
cupboard yet!  It makes me wonder how much more he understands!

Scarey huh? lol You should see our place at the mere THOUGHT of a COOKIE!

People who don't have dogs really, REALLY don't have a clue how smart they actually are. I think after they've been with people long enough, they learn some words very well...even some sentences.

Are you saying they read minds?  Somehow that wouldn't surprise me.  He
always seems to be waiting at the window when I come home from work.  Susan

Don't know if they read minds, but they're awfully sensitive to feelings.

Both dogs were out and there was all this unusually crazy barking. I went
out to see what was going on  and there was Seamus, but no Jasmine.  As I'm
frantically calling her one of the cats makes a run for it. He's not allowed
out at night.  I hear all this whining and bumping, and realize that Jasmine
has gotten stuck under the deck. <snip>  Fortunately I found none, but all she wants to do
is get back out there!  I wish I understood.

Susan, Jasmine and Seamus

Dogs are weird about places they like to be. And they can be "comfortable" in positions that would give us a crick in the neck for a week!  I sometimes catch Newman sleeping underneath the  vanity in the bathroom (which he uses as a "den")...UPSIDE DOWN, with his feet braced against the    "ceiling". How he can sleep that way is totally beyond me. Looks like he died and is suffering from rigor mortis or something.

Tonight I put up some photos of Abigail and also the last installment of
Clondike's "My Life as a Rescue Dog" and the first installment authored by
Abigail entitled "My Life as a Rescue Dog--Continued."

Abigail is lovely, and I'm sure she's glad she now has such understanding "parents".
