RE: Re: [pyrnet] Sarah Stombaugh Passes

It was quite a shock to open my email this morning to read of Sarah's passing. It hasn't even made it to the Greenville News obituaries as of this morning's edition.

Sarah and Paul were the two people who really got us interested in Pyrs. My mother's original Pyr, Muffin, was from one of their last litters, and was a wonderful companion for Mother and Dad. Both Sarah and Paul were very supportive of our first attempts at showing our Pyrs. I still remember how they gave us some brushes and a show lead to use at our first show. We would take our Pyrs over for visits when Sarah was feeling up to it. The dogs were so good at these visits -- just seem to know how they should behave. And Sarah and Paul seemed to enjoy these visits as well. They would tell us stories about their early days with the Pyrs. How their first dog wasn't the best of specimens (haven't we all been there?), showing on days when it was pitching down with rain, and the time when Belle at a whole bar of Hershey's chocolate (one of the LARGE ones), the time their Pyrs got out of their kennels and went in (not just to, but inside!) the neighbor's house.

Sarah was a delightful person. She loved the breed and was a wonderful mentor. David and I will both be the poorer for her passing.
