[pyrnet] Average Pyr size

Hello,

I have noticed quite a few questions regarding Pyr weights (especially
growing puppies) on this list. I too am wondering if our Romy is larger,
smaller, or about average. To address this I would like to assemble a
database of Pyr age/weights...graph it and get a linear regression equation
established for average male and female weights so we can all determine if
our dog is larger, smaller, or about average (I am a research Director by
day, a Pyr owner always).

I certainly am not a proponent of "bigger is better" as I have seen what has
happened to the Great Dane as a breed after years of breeding for size
(decreased longevity, increased physical/health problems). I am concerned
about the health of our dogs and since there are not a lot of Pyr's around it
is hard to compare notes in person. Average weight may give us some
indication of healthly growth.

So...for all of you who have good weight records (check your Vet book for
weight and age) please send me your info (also please indicate if the records
are for a male or female). Format is not that important but lets use:

MALE (OR FEMALE)
WEIGHT AGE
xx lbs xx months
XX lbs xx months
etc.

Send this directly to lesrvg@aol.com (my home e-mail). I will crunch the
data and report back to the group.

Thanks.

Keith (and Romy)
